What we do
We offer activities, courses and lectures (without exams, tests or assignments) for older people in Stonnington and nearby suburbs of Melbourne.
U3A Stonnington keeps running only because unpaid lecturers, tutors and members do all of the work. These people generously volunteer their services.
We are at 1-3 Valetta Street, Malvern Vic 3144, just off Glenferrie Road opposite the tram depot. All sessions are held at 1-3 Valetta Street unless stated otherwise in the Course List.
Phone 9500 1288
Our number is (03) 9500 1288 and you can leave a message after hours.
Open 10am-1pm for enquiries
We have closed until further notice. Normally, Reception is open from 10am to 1 pm on Mondays to Fridays except on public holidays.
No sessions are held on public holidays because we close on those days - Australia Day holiday, Labour Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Queen's Birthday.
Having two semesters a year means we offer a new program of lectures every six months. The popular games, languages and discussion groups are repeated. Members enrol for all sessions of their choice just one semester at a time.
Some courses fill very quickly so wait lists are started. It is a good idea to enrol to register your interest because sometimes we can repeat a highly popular lecture in the following semester.
Memorial books 1
Our current policy for honouring members who have died in the last year is to donate books to schools in Stonnington. On 22 October 2018 our President Elizabeth Brown presented books to pupils of Malvern Primary School. In 2017 a selection of books was given to Armadale Primary School by then President Doug Thomas and then Secretary Elizabeth Brown. On both occasions parents, grandparents and friends of the pupils joined them at a Monday morning assembly of the entire school where the books were handed over.

U3A Stonnington – Malvern Primary School - October 2018
U3A is an organisation that provides opportunities for older people to make new friends, to learn and do new things together, and to enjoy themselves. There are U3As in many cities and towns throughout the world, including Malvern, Stonnington, where your school is. Many of the members of U3A Stonnington are Grandparents. We have given these books to your school library because we value learning. We hope that you will enjoy learning about dinosaurs, planet earth, weather and water, rocks and fossils, “Timelines of Everything” and “Girl Stuff”. We have also given you these books as a lasting and positive memorial for our members who died in the last year. Learning: a lifelong adventure.
