Named in honour of the Lunar Society of Birmingham who met from 1765 to 1813 at full moon which made travel easier. They called themselves ‘Lunarticks’, and met to discuss scientific issues of the day. The idea of this group is to discuss any area of science or technology, emerging or established, with the intention of informing ourselves and better understanding its impact on society. We choose a topic in advance, and each member comes prepared to enter into discussion on that topic. We would generally rely on someone within the group who is most knowledgeable on that topic to lead the discussion. As this is a discussion group, a knowledge of science and technology is preferable.
