Greetings! Welcome to Semester 1 2021.
A special welcome to our new members who have recently joined – we hope you enjoy the program on offer and get to meet other members during the year. It is good to be underway again with what promises to be an interesting, if not challenging year!
With Covid 19 restrictions still in place it is now unlikely that we will be able to return to classes at Valetta Street for some little time yet. This is, of course, disappointing for all concerned as we are all keen to make use of our wonderful facilities. We are bound by both State Government requirements as well as those of the City of Stonnington. We have been in constant dialogue with Council officers, and have developed a Covid Safe plan in the event that we can resume face to face activities. Your health and well being remains of prime importance to us. It is very pleasing that our latest lockdown ended.
To allow for some face to face activities we have decided to introduce a series of Morning Coffee and Afternoon Tea Get togethers. At this stage there will be 3, with a CovidSafe limit of members at each gathering. These will be held at a café nearby Valetta Street Malvern. Details and enrolments have been posted on U-MAS. Keep an eye out and do find a date that suits. If demand is sufficient we may organise another event.
Our Historical Walks have proved very popular and we will endeavour to arrange another walk that will be of great interest. More Zoom courses will also be added during the Semester.
Thanks to the hard work and dedication of our team of Administration volunteers our transition to U-MAS for members has proceeded smoothly, although not without a few minor hitches. We hope you found the enrolment procedure satisfactory, particularly as face to face enrolments were not possible. Please give us feedback.
Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Monday 10 May at 12.30pm. Please put the date in your diary now.
As ever in any volunteer organisation we always welcome support from our members. If you have Accounting or IT skills (no matter how rusty) we would love to hear from you and discuss how you could help. Please contact us via email.
Just a reminder, the Zoom link for each session will be emailed the working day before the session. If you don’t receive it, please check your Spam and/or Junk folder as it may be in there.
Kind regards and best wishes.
